Description of the project
The EU Migrant Advice project provides:
- specialist advice posts in North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and the Humber
- a central post in Sheffield
These posts will give 'second tier' support to any advice agency with enquiries from EU migrants. This will involve telephone support and some referrals of complex casework.
The project will also:
- supervise other MIF funded advisers in Doncaster and Rotherham
- hold regional advisers' meetings to coordinate work, and to share information and good practice
- provide training to advisers, so they can better deal with enquiries
- support pilot initiatives to bring EU migrants into community advice organisations to help provide the advice, advocacy and interpreting for their own communities as well as enquiries on all subjects from local communties
- try to improve advice for those EU migrants who lose work or face family break up, on their options to return or to access support and work
