Hardship Follows New Reporting Requirements for South Yorkshire Asylum Seekers
Thursday, 05 June 2008
Asylum seekers and other immigrants are facing hardship in reporting for the first time to the new UK Border Agency (UKBA) reporting centre in Sheffield. They now have to 'sign' weekly or monthly in Sheffield rather than locally. A number of these are destitute asylum seekers or on section 4 asylum support where they receive vouchers only.
The NRC Advice Service has criticised the changes and issued advice to those affected.
